Looking for Fun VOLUNTEER Work Experience for Class Credit?

Or just work experience within the community?  Then look no further.  The Power Play Campaign is a social marketing program with the key goals of increasing the consumption of fruits and vegetables to 5 servings a day, as well as increasing physical activity of children in San Diego County.

What can I do?
  Think creatively about how to spread this important message.
  Conduct fun and educational Power Play! activities in schools, after-school programs, grocery stores and restaurants.
  Help teachers and youth organization leaders learn how to use the Power Play! materials.
  Meet families and promote Power Play at health fairs.
  Assist the Power Play! Campaign Manager with a variety of activities, including: community coalition meetings, contacting key local resources, planning upcoming events, and more.
  Have fun!!!

How can I benefit?
  Network with the major nutrition-oriented organizations in San Diego through projects and meetings.
  Learn about schools and youth programs by meeting teachers, principals and youth organization leaders.
  Gain experience working with local media, including print, radio and television.
  Learn about promotions in restaurants and retail outlets.
  Gain knowledge about local politics and policy involving nutrition.
  Work on a well-established, popular community campaign.
  Receive valuable community experience in multiple areas.

What do I need?
  Interest in social marketing health campaigns, nutrition, community health, and/or elementary school students.
  Ability to fit between 2-12 hours/week of activities and events into your schedule (commitment times are flexible).
  Professional attitude and reliability.
  Experience working in schools and/or ability to speak Spanish are helpful, though not necessary.
