Looking for Fun VOLUNTEER Work Experience for Class Credit?

Or just work experience within the community?  Then look no further.  The Latino Campaign is a social marketing program with the key goals of increasing the consumption of fruits and vegetables to 5 servings a day, as well as increasing physical activity of Latino families in San Diego County.

What can I do?
  Distribute marketing materials and educate the Latino community about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables at festivals, farmers'/flea markets, and at grocery stores/markets.
  Play Latino Campaign games with the public, including Bingo, Spin the Wheel, jump rope, hula-hoop, and dance with participants at festivals and farmers’/flea markets.
  Help the Latino Campaign Project Coordinator with other activities (including setting up community coalition meetings, contacting key people in the Latino community, etc) to promote the message.

How can I benefit?
  Network with decision-makers in a variety of public health, government and private organizations, as well as the media.
  Work on a well-established, popular community campaign.
  Receive valuable community service experience.

What do I need?
  Interest in social marketing health campaigns, nutrition, community health, and the Latino community.
  Available on selected weekends for Latino Campaign events.
  Flexibility in your schedule for Latino 5 Campaign events and meetings.
  Ability to complete a variety of tasks such as helping prepare for and staff festivals, public speaking, making phone calls, etc. in a timely manner.
  Fluency in both Spanish and English.
  Approximately 10 to 12 hours per week.
